When configuring a view for use with an entity reference field the sorting of that view is not applied:

For instance the sort will happen on the content type first, even when the view has sorting on title and then on content type.
Also the amount of results can't be configured in the view and is always 10.

Note: Setting this to major because for some cases it can be impossible to select/find certain content:
e.g. when you're looking for a "page" with title "test" and you have 10 articles that start with "test*", you'll never be able to see or find the page "test".

I tested this on Drupal 10.1.x, standard install. I added a reference field to the basic page type and created articles and pages. I built a new view using the information in the Issue Summary and sorting worked as setup in the sort field. In other words, I was not able to reproduce the problem. I also tested filtering by title, which worked as expected.

Therefore, closing as outdated. If you are experiencing this problem on a supported version of Drupal reopen the issue, by setting the status to 'Active', and provide complete steps to reproduce the issue (starting from "Install Drupal core").
