The Workflow widget
Last updated on

The Workflow Widget (a.k.a. workflow transition form) contains the following elements:
- The available values for the new State.
- The available States can be shown as select list/radio buttons in the widget, or action buttons at the bottom of the form. The action buttons replace the "save" button;
- Per role and current state, you can configure the available States.
- Each State has a name. You you can set labels per transition under the 'Transition labels' configuration page. This is particularly useful when using action buttons. The text entered here will however also be used for the select list/radio buttons. Remember to check after adjusting transitions. There is no need to fill the labels explicitly.
- A possibility to schedule the state change to a future moment;
- A hidden/optional/required comment field.
They can all be customized via Workflow settings or permissions.
The widget can be set at the following locations:
- On the "manage fields" tab, after opening your Workflow field, the widget on the "Field Settings" tab is used when editing/saving existing content or creating new content.
- On the "manage display" tab, you can select the formatter, when displaying content. 'Default' gives a printed value of the state, whereas 'Workflow form' shows the Widget.
- On the "blocks" page (/admin/structure/block), you can add a block with the Widget. This block can be shown next to a content page.
- Each content page also has a 'workflow history tab', where the widget is displayed, above a list of the executed state transitions.
