13rac1 commentedThis module is named for what the Google Image Charts API used to be called. Google renamed their service, but this module name hasn't been updated. There is a plan to implement the new Chart Tools with an issue here: #1196712: New Interactive Google Charts API?

Pierre.Vriens commentedHm, interesting to learn where the current name of chart comes from, thanks for explaining Brad (oeps ... eosrei).
I hesitate to ask (and reopen this issue), but I dare anyway (fingers crossed ...): in the context of what we might end up with via #2368793: Chart 2.0, how about calling a cat a cat, a dog a dog and the chart module ... euh ... right: just chart.
Doing so (ASAP if I'm authorised to decide ...) would already lead to these advantages:
If this is not a good idea: sorry for asking, just close the issue again.

13rac1 commentedI highly prefer to leave the name as is. It clearly describes what the module supports. This is not the module for any type of charts or graphs. This is only for "Google Chart Tools: Image Charts." Once that changes, or at least is in the process of changing, it is reasonable to change the name to better describe what is supported.

Pierre.Vriens commentedOK for me as suggested in the 1st parg of #5, and thanks for the offer in the 2nd parg (I'll rmember that).
Update about charts: the only thing I've been doing for that up to now is (a) research its issue queue (and discovered more challenges waiting there) and (b) file issues (without at least 1 answer so far) and (c) wait for Nate related to #22 in #2368793: Chart 2.0 (and about to announce my decision-until-further notice, due to lack of any feedback from the charts-project, because I won't wait forever and want to get going with Chart 2.0).

13rac1 commentedClosing three year old issue. Please create new issues instead of resurrecting ancient ones.
