Steps for organizing an online DrupalCamp

Most of the steps for organizing an online DrupalCamp are the same as for organizing an in-person camp. Here are some differences.

Choose and Contract for an Online Platform

Instead of selecting a venue, decide on an online platform and purchase the necessary licenses.

Larger events have used Hopin, including BADCamp 2020. This type of platform is designed for online conferences, and supports plenary (large) sessions, breakouts (workshops), and networking.

Smaller events have used a website with Zoom for the sessions.

Marketing

Because geography is no barrier to attending online events, consider publicizing your DrupalCamp beyond your geographical area.

Speakers

Because speakers don't have to travel to participate, you'll have a broad range from which to recruit. However, not everyone knows how to present online. Here is the Speaker Guide for DrupalCon Global 2020, with excellent guidelines and instructions.
